He began working in Web development and e-commerce applications after completing his graduate studies at New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences in 1995. At that time, not many companies were using the Internet. Jonathan was one of the few people who saw how the Web could transform business. Jonathan pioneered the creation of Web stores, building one of the very first online catalogs. It allowed the client to offer their complete product line on the Web for much less than it cost to mail their paper catalog even once. At a Web development company whose clients included early Internet adopters, Jonathan worked with IBM, Hearst, and ABC, among others. In 1996 he created a major online department store, incorporating innovative features like personalization and administration tools before most sites had basic e-commerce capabilities. Jonathan worked for Moody's Investors Service for several years, implementing a major e-commerce application for the sale of financial information. He helped created a stable, scalable infrastructure for the application, which used a distributed system to provide Moody's clients with access to an extensive database. With the coming of the new millennium, Jonathan recognized the increasing demand for the very technologies he had developed and decided to found Metarhythm. He wanted to create a company that could leverage his six years of direct experience to offer clients rapid, customized service at a reasonable cost.
